Dylan Williams was one of the first people I met when I started in comics. We both started around the same time, both followed a similar path of self-publishing and the Xeric Grant. I was really impressed with his Reporter series. I’d never read anything like that before. I can’t think of those early days without thinking of Dylan. He was one of the early pioneers of the current arts comics movement, the combination of the high and the low. It was funny just how diverse his interests and influences were. Before there was a comics internet there was Dylan Williams. He could speak with equal enthusiasm and knowledge about Alex Raymond ghost artists and the latest Marvel crossover event. Catching up with him every year was one of the highlights of TCAF. I’m grateful to have known him.
